the cosmos in e minor

I saw it, then

as the universe

lurched forward,

inviting time and space

to dance.

I felt it.

a fleeting feeling,

momentarily infinite–

clinging delicately to

the silence between

the notes of time’s melodious hum

—not much more than a second thought,

then.

orchestrating

life’s transcendent melody,

rivering through each of us–

harmonizing history

and fate,

its prescience

slips through

our

untrained ears.

mute though time’s music

may seem,

its notes,

in time with

the heartbeat

of the universe,

and carved out of

sound–

sing the ballad of

the cosmos,

an endless crescendo.
